The Benefits of Drawing Near to God

But without faith it is impossible to please Him. For he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6 KJ21.
“He rewards the faith of those who give all their passion and strength into seeking him.” Hebrews 11:6 The Passion Translation

What does it mean to diligently seek Him? It means to seek Him with intention and persistent effort. We live in a fast-paced world where many are constantly distracted and overwhelmed by the amount of information coming at them. When we seek God with intention, it means tuning out everything else that is stealing our time and setting our focus solely on Him. We must make Him our priority. In the quiet hours of the early morning, we must make time to spend with Him. It takes a consistent effort on our part to draw near.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” –James 4:8 (NKJV)

As you are consistent in spending time with Him, it will develop into a closeness between you and God where you can hear His voice of instruction, correction and encouragement. There is nothing more precious than friendship and fellowship with Almighty God.

However when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth; for He shall not speak from Himself, but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak; and He will show you things to come.” John 16:13 KV21

When we can hear His voice, He will speak answers into our hearts. Answers to the challenges in our lives. Whether you are experiencing a family problem, a financial challenge or a business decision, God knows the answer and He will speak the truth directly to your heart through the Holy Spirit. This is only accessible if you are following close to Him. Some people think they have all the answers and can solve all their problems on their own. Don’t waste your time doing this when God knows the truth about your situation and wants to share these things with you. The answers will come as you draw near to Him.

Walking in the anointing of the Holy Spirit causes us to know God’s will in every situation both present and future – John 16:13 says “He will show you things to come”. The Spirit of God will enable us to see things to come so we can avoid the snares of the enemy. He will show us the truth about every situation we face.

“The joy of the Lord is your strength.” –Nehemiah 8:10 (NKJV)

Spending time in God’s presence brings joy to our hearts. That supernatural joy gives us strength – strength to endure the hardships of life so we don’t get discouraged or weary. If we build a healthy relationship with God before trials come, we will be prepared and have the strength to endure. Depending on God’s grace to get us through difficult times will propel us to victory!

"But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:33 KV21

Whatever you need today, you can receive at the feet of Jesus through reading His Word, prayer and praise. It doesn’t matter what your needs are, you can depend on the promise in Matthew 6:33. I challenge you to commit to totally saturating yourself in God’s Word and drawing near to Him. He will never fail you.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me.” –Luke 4:18 (NIV)

When God gives us an assignment and we are obedient by making ourselves available to Him, it doesn’t matter what our natural abilities are. As we draw near to Him, we are moving in the supernatural so we are no longer dependent on our own knowledge, intelligence or talents. The only way to accomplish what He has called us to do is through His divine power and ability. If what He is calling you to do is beyond your own natural abilities, as you draw near to Him and step out in faith, He will anoint your natural abilities by His grace and give you whatever you need so you can do it in His power and strength.

“There is something about believing God that will cause Him to pass over a million people to get to you.” Smith Wigglesworth

As we draw near to God by being intentional and consistent with the time we spend in His presence, and if we believe what He has said in His Word, we will hear His voice and He will give us everything we need to accomplish what He has called us to do. As we align ourselves with His ways, His desires and dreams become our desires and dreams. We will experience victory in every area of our lives. This is the walk of faith. There is no greater joy or fulfillment in this life!
